‘Faith and Endeavour - We believe and do our best’

Term 5 - Rainforests

Welcome back, we hope you had a very restful Easter and have not filled up too much on chocolate!

This term our topic is 'Rainforests'. The children will be starting the term finding out about where in the world rainforests can be found, their climate and structure. They will also be exploring some of the animals, plants and humans that live in the rainforests. Towards the end of the term the class will have the chance to make their own rainforest in a bottle to observe the changes.

In maths the class will continue to build on their existing knowledge of fractions, moving onto finding fractions of amounts and representing them in different ways. They will finish the term with learning about time.

In English we will be focussing on information texts. We will be looking at the key elements and how these text types are structured.

In science the children will be exploring the plant cycle and understanding what plants need to grow and stay alive and how they fit into the ecosystem.

Reminders:

*Swimming is now finished. PE is on a Monday and Tuesday. Please ensure the children are in the correct kit.

*Spelling mats will be sent home shortly for the children to learn.

*Home learning will be focussing more on developing the children's English and Maths knowledge. The information will be sent home shortly.
