Term 3 - Where in the world?
Welcome back and a Happy New Year! The children have come back after Christmas ready and raring to learn and we have had a fabulous start to the term so far - well done!
This term we have kick-started our topic 'Where in the World' with the children beginning to become familiar with using an atlas to locate countries and cities within the UK. We were blown away by how much the children already knew about places within the UK and how confidently they were able to talk to others about places they have visited. We have also begun making our own globes which the children are very excited about, especially getting messy with paper mache!
In maths the class will continue to build on their existing knowledge of multiplication and division through problem solving and an introduction to new methods of recording. We will move onto exploring money and data towards the end of the term.
In English we will be continuing to work hard on our Talk for Writing. The children will be learning how to construct and write a news report throughout the term. We will be including some drama work to make the stories 'come alive' for the children.
*Swimming is on a Monday at the Folkestone Sports Centre - Please send swimwear, towel and goggles and swim hat if wanted. PE in school is on a Tuesday afternoon which will be gymnastics.
*Spelling mats have been sent home and we will be having spelling tests on these words throughout the term.
*Home learning has been sent home - complete 2 or more pieces of homework by the end of the term. Please encourage your child to take as much ownership of these tasks as possible.
