‘Faith and Endeavour - We believe and do our best’

Term 2 - Stone Age to Iron Age

Term 2

In our topic we have been focusing our learning around the Stone Age. We have been exploring their way of life including looking at the food they ate, their appearance and comparing it to our lives today. We are really excited to finish the term with a Stone Age workshop where we will have the opportunity to wear costumes and make tools.

This term, we have continued with our Science topic of 'Forces and Magnets' and have been investigating gravity, friction and water resistance with a range of exciting experiments. We have also learnt how to measure forces using a Newton meter!

In English we have been working hard on our Talk for Writing unit of Instructional Texts and have created our own amazing sets of instructions, ranging from 'How to trap a stone giant' to 'How to look after a baby!'

For our maths learning, we have been working so hard on our knowledge of multiplication and division and we are becoming so confident in our times tables!

After our fabulous workshop the class put together a museum to display our work from the previous day. They made leaflets, displays and tickets before inviting class 4 to join us. The children were fantastic at explaining what each display was and how it linked with the Stone Age. Well done class 3!
We ended our term with an amazing Stone Age workshop. The children began the day by getting into costume so they really felt like they were back in the Stone Age. They then had the opportunity to take part in a range of fabulous activities including making tools, exploring genuine artefacts and creating chalk art using flint. We all had a fantastic time and the children got lots out of the day.
