‘Faith and Endeavour - We believe and do our best’

Term 2

This term our class topic is Frozen Lands. We will be using the topic throughout our curriculum topics, where we will research and discover what life would be like in the polar regions of the world. Additionally, we will be using the frozen lands topic to study the world map, comparing different countries from Europe and the Americas to the UK. The class book for this term is The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and this will support us in our creation of writing our own imaginary world stories. Continuing on from this, we will be writing non-chronological reports on Antarctica and the polar regions.

In science we will be learning about the different states of matter. During these lessons, we will be conducting experiments to understand how different types of matter can change between the three states. This will involve knowing the classification of each state of matter and terminology for when the matter changes states through heating and freezing.

PE will be the same this term - continuing to develop our swimming techniques and confidence in the water width ways and length ways at different depths. We will also be continuing with tennis this term building on our skills learnt last term.

SWIMMING - MONDAYS: Children will need their swimming kits etc.

TENNIS - WEDNESDAY: PE Kit needed.

In class this week, we have been learning about some of the animals found within the arctic and antarctic regions of the world. We were also studying a Japanese style of poem know as a haiku in English and we created our own poems about a frozen lands/sea animal. Can you guess what animal they are describing?

Guess which frozen land/sea animal my haiku is about.
