At St Martin's Church of England Primary School every child gets the opportunity to learn a musical instrument.
In year 4 children learn how to play the Ukulele, this is our Music Plus teaching. They learn this for the whole year. They use school instruments and also get the opportunity to take part in a performance day with other schools in the area.
In year 3 the children get the opportunity to learn to play the ocarina. They also take part in a singing day with other schools in the area.
Our music curriculum involves listening to a range of styles of music, exploring the inter-related dimensions of music such as pitch, rhythm, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture and having the opportunity to compose and perform music. We enjoy using a range of percussion instruments; drums, claves and egg shakers aswell as tuned instruments; glockenspiels, boomwhackers and footnotes.
